What Are The Different Levels of Home Care Packages?
Home care packages are government-subsidized packages that are designed to offer help, care, and support to aged Australians. These allow you to choose the services you require to enable you to live at home. There are 4 home care package levels that provide different sets of services at different prices. And each level includes different amounts of annual individual funding (discussed in the latter part of the blog).
Services offered include, but are not limited to, in-home support, personal services, continence management, allied health services, transport, and mobility. Before we dive into the details of different home care package levels, let’s understand what’s included in the services offered.
What’s included in the services?
In-home support: Assistance with nutrition, meal preparation, hydration, clean home environment
Personal services: Hygiene maintenance, dressing, brushing, mobility, communication
Continence management: Assistance in using continence aids, disposable pads
Allied health services: Occupational therapy, psychological support, physiotherapy, podiatry
Transport: Shopping, attending social activities, attending personal appointments
Mobility: Mobility aids such as walking sticks, walking frames, crutches, mechanical devices
4 Home Care Package Levels
Level 1 This is designed to support people who have basic home care needs. Mostly, people who require this package can perform daily tasks on their own. However, they might require certain services as mentioned below.Annual Funding for this level package: $8297.90

Support Hours Per Week: 2-3 hours
Level 2
This is designed for people who have moderate home care needs.
Annual Funding for this level package: $15,705.95

Basic home and garden maintenance
Nursing care
Loan of basic care equipment
Support Hours Per Week: 2-4 hour
Level 3
This level is designed for people with high-level home care needs – people who require more support than Levels 1 and 2 of home care packages.
Annual Funding for this level package: $34,174.95

Assistance with appliances
Medication management
Allied health support
Nursing support
Support Hours Per Week: 4-6 hours
Level 4
This level is designed for people who require very high-level home care needs. Basically, this level is for people who are living with Parkinson’s disease or dementia. These conditions require a lot of care, and it is helpful to hire people who specialize in these complex areas.
Annual Funding for this level package: $51,808.10
